Desirable Qualities of Buyers and Agents


Buying a home is a team effort. Here are a few qualities for a win-win relationship between the buyer and their exclusive buyer agent:

Committed - Is the agent going to be available when called upon? Committed - Is the buyer ready, willing and able to buy?
Qualified - Does the agent have the right qualifications and tools (real estate experience, mls, highly efficient in finance, negotiating, problem-solving skills)? Qualified - Can the buyer determine their time period to buy, desired city, and show proof of funds? (This is not the same as being prequalified which has to do with obtaining a loan.)
Compatible - Is the agent friendly? Compatible - Is the buyer friendly?
Trustworthy - Can you trust the agent to go the distance with you? Trustworthy - Can you trust the buyer to go the distance with you?
Willing to Get You Inside - Will the agent help you go inside the homes and get to know the property? Willing to Share Information - Is the buyer willing to share all of their information and opinions?
Knowledgeable - Is the agent knowledgeable? Knowledgeable - Can the buyer accuractely describe the neighborhood and property they want?
Familiar with the Territory - Can the agent bargain well and are they familiar with prices? Reasonable Expectations - Are the buyer’s expectations reasonable?
Strong Negotiator and Problem-Solver - Does the agent have excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills? Adaptable - Can the buyer adapt a property to fit their own unique needs and desires?
